(the
International Association of Teachers of English as a Foreign Language)The Classroom
Our bright and cheerful classroom comfortably seats up to ten
trainees (the maximum we accept on our courses to keep personal
attention high), and your trainer, of course!
Central heating and radiators are provided for the cooler months, and in summer blinds and curtains keep the temperature just right.
You
can and should freely use everything on offer, and each trainee will
also be responsible for keeping a shelf or section of our resource
centre in order. This is an important aspect of professionalism
which is one of the criteria taken into account in your final TEFL
Certificate grade. Busy teachers in any language school always love
being able to find their favourite resources in a flash, and you
will be no different.
All in all, our trainees really enjoy living
and working together at TEFL Paris, with the odd game of frisbee or
a stroll in our lovely park to relax from time to time. Taking some
'time out' now and then is essential, whether for a wal
k in some of
the nature that's on your doorstep, or a trip to a world-famous
museum like the Musée d'Orsay or just along the banks of the Seine
taking in the atmosphere and the history.
The Teaching Hall
We also have a wide range of ages, from children to retired people,
which makes the groups dynamic and varied. Our students are
extremely nice people, who enjoy coming to their English lessons and
like most of all standing up and using their English to communicate
with each other in real-life situations such as booking a ticket or
going shopping.
The one thing all our 'guinea pigs' (the students you will be
teaching!) have in common is a positive attitude to learning English
and an understanding that you are trainees, not experienced
teachers, and that they need to be gentle with you! And of course
there are always trainers on-hand to help out with organisations,
moving chairs around and so on. You're never completely on your
own.
